Hello there! I’m Sarah Glenn Marsh, and I’m excited to be your hostess for this leg of the hunt.
About Me:
I have one pointy ear, so I’m basically a half-elf.
My favorite color is pink.
I love scary movies and books.
Kit-kats are my favorite candy.
My greyhounds’ names are Grimm and Khaleesi.
I’m currently writing my seventh novel!
Before we get started, let’s go over the rules…
DIRECTIONS: Below, you’ll notice that I’ve listed my favorite number. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on TEAM GREEN, and then add them up (don’t worry, you can use a calculator!)
HINT: THE SECRET NUMBER IS HIGHLIGHTED IN GREEN!
ENTRY FORM: Once you’ve added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.
RULES: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by SUNDAY, APRIL 8th, at noon Pacific Time. Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.
There are SIX contests plus a bonus prize going on simultaneously and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the GREEN TEAM but there is also a RED TEAM, BLUE TEAM, GOLD TEAM, PURPLE TEAM, & PINK TEAM! Check out each team for a chance to win lots of different sets of signed books!
If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.
Now that all the technical stuff is out of the way, let’s meet the author I am hosting on this hunt:
She’s here to tell us about her latest book, WASTE OF SPACE!
Waste of Space is a tremendous success. Millions of people tune in. Ratings are through the roof.
And then something goes wrong.
And just as the cast members start to suspect something has gone wrong,
And just as the viewers start to know that something has gone wrong . . .
All communication is severed.
Now no one can tell what’s real and what’s fake, instability and paranoia loom large, and the only way for the cast to figure out what’s going on is for them to work together. The kids stumble closer to the truth, dread seeping into every corner of the ship as they find out what happens when a reality show loses its grip on reality.
This is my original sketch of the Laika, the spaceship into which all ten Spacetronauts of WASTE OF SPACE are crammed. I don’t know why the shape of a bottle occurred to me, but since it worked out quite nicely for what needed to happen on the ship, I kept it. It also allowed for plenty of camera angles – an actual logistical element for a reality television show, but one that also let me explore the narrative from several points of view at the same time. Also, it has a hot tub.
Don’t forget to enter the contest for a chance to win a ton of books by me, Gina Damico, and more!
Add up all the favorite numbers of the authors on the green team and you’ll have the secret code to enter for the grand prize! Just look at all these awesome books from Team Green:

Quite honestly, I’ve been on a Harlequin kick lately that came out of left field so I don’t have any 2018 suggestions for you for YA books. I can tell you qhich Harlequin books to burn. I could suggest a couple non 2018 H. titles. I do know that my fav author has books out this year. Gina Ciocca. Also a part of YASH. Busted and A Kiss In The Dark. I suggest both. They’re still on my to read list, but they’re Gina Ciocca books, so they’re going to be fabulous.
I just finished reading Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff (the sequel to Illuminae) and I AM SHOOK. I read the first one a while ago and thought it was incredible. I don’t read a lot of “space” based Sci-Fi novels because they’ve never really clicked with me (I prefer alternate realities or time travel personally if I’m going to read Sci-Fi ;D) but the first one was INCREDIBLE and the second one BLEW ME AWAY even further – cannot WAIT to get around to reading Obsidio. If you haven’t read it yourself yet, please PLEASE do. I love it so much ;u;
(Just beware, the cliffhangers may kill you. Fairly sure I died multiple times while reading.)
Rebecca Ross The Queen’s Rising
I just read and thoroughly enjoyed Ready Player One. Now off to see the movie.
I just finished reading Tiger’s Dream by Colleen Houck. I’m a huge fan of the Tiger’s Curse series and have been waiting for years for this book to get published! Now that I’ve read it, it was so worth the wait! All my questions were answered and the book is packed with a bunch of surprises. By the end of the book I did something I don’t normally do… I cried! It was so good I couldn’t help it! Highly recommended!
I read Hundredth Queen by Emily R. King!! Loved it!
I have read quite a few this year that I absolutely loved!!! The Illuminae Files trilogy (especially the audio), Far From the Tree,
The Nowhere Girls, The Guns Above, Before the Devil Breaks You, The Trail Rules, The Shadow Cipher, Children of Blood and Bone, Scythe, Serpentine, The Poet X, Inkmistress, The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter, and quite a few more!
I’ve been enjoying Renee Ahdieha’s latest books, and is waiting for the sequel to Flame in the Mist.
I read sporadically, but when the bug hits me, I don’t stop reading. XD
So far, my favorite books of 2018 are Legendary and Furyborn!! I know they will both be on my top 10 of the year!
I am currently reading the Pretty Little Liars series and it is truly addicting, such a guilty pleasure! I am also reading the Scooby Doo Team Up Comics with my 4 year-old son and LOVE them! We’re having a great time with them – he is so excited to get in bed every night and read them as a bedtime story. <3
It’s so hard to choose. I have read a few this that were very memorable. One of them is Lightning Struck by Nichole Van (Brothers Maledetti #3). It’s a mix of paranormal, mystery, romance and with very interesting historical connection.
There are two books that I’d like to recommend: The Cruel Prince by Holly Black and Secret Heir (Dynasty #1)
by M.J. Prince. I so want to read yours <3
American Panda is very good
RENEGADES BY MARISSA MEYER!!!! (Ok I know it TECHNICALLY came out late 2017, but I didn’t read it until January soo… But OMG was that book amazing!!!
I highly recommend The Book of Emma Reyes a memoir!! I read it this January and it’s amazing!!!
I’m currently reading The Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. I’m loving it!
i recently read the Wild robot and the wild robot escapes, by Peter Brown. They were great books, with adorable illustrations, a heartwarming story about a robot that turns wild and lives among the animals, and good underlying messages about family and inclusion and stuff. It was awesome
I would say the Jackaby series has been a favorite this year. I won the second Jackaby book so I bought the first and it took awhile to finally read them but as soon as I started the first I quickly ordered the third and fourth. It’s not what I expected and the Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Sherlock Holmes comparison confused me in the first two books but book number three and it clicked. I just started the final book and I’m excited to see how the series will end! 🙂
I finished Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore a couple weeks ago, and totally loved it! It was completely unexpected and such a fun read. Thanks for doing a bonus giveaway!
