Interested in having me speak at your school, library, book festival, con, or other event?
Great, because those are among my favorite things, and I’d love to hear from you!
I’m delighted to give presentations, answer questions about my books and the publishing process, participate on author panels, and lead writing workshops for adults and/or teens. Above all, I love connecting with my audience, whether they’re adults, teens, or younger readers of my picture books.
If you are an educator interested in having me visit with your students, please contact me at: sarahmarshbooks@gmail.com for rates and availability. I earned my Master of Education (preK-6) degree at a Virginia university, and truly enjoy returning to the classroom to connect with students. It’s like coming home.
*I also ask that my relevant books (picture books for elementary audiences, novels for middle and high schools) be made available for students to read prior to my visit.*
I am also happy to offer Skype or Google Hangout virtual visits at a reduced rate to any school or group, near or far! Please use the contact information above to get in touch for more information.
*The Publishing Process: A discussion of the path to traditional publication, from writing a first draft, to finding critique partners, to editing your work, to finally holding your finished book.
*Drafting a Novel: An in-depth look at the writing process, from initial brainstorming of book ideas, to finding motivation to finish a first draft, to revising your book until it’s ready for literary agents.
*Writing Workshops: Instead of a presentation, I’ll read and critique pages from a creative writing class or other small group (number of pages and people TBD). This will be a smaller session in order for me to give everyone plenty of individual attention.
I’m also delighted to discuss my own publication path and career, as well as other aspects of the writing/publishing processes, such as presenting yourself and your book professionally to literary agents. I want your students’ or group’s time with me to be fun and memorable, and am completely flexible as far as presentation content.
With any presentation, I’d also offer as much Q&A time as your group would like, and a book signing for those interested at the end!
Adults, teens, mother-daughter book clubs, and library groups: If you’ve chosen Fear the Drowning Deep as one of your reads, I’d love to answer your questions, give you a behind-the-scenes look at my writing process, and above all, connect with you and get your thoughts on the book!
If you are local to the Charlottesville-Richmond area, please contact me at sarahmarshbooks@gmail.com to discuss an in-person visit!
For non-local reading groups, I’d love to pop into your book club discussion via Skype, Google Hangouts, or any other virtual platform you like! Please use the contact information above to get in touch with me directly and let me know your preferred date.
